Costume Gala

I have to admit, I had wondered whether I was tempting fate by hosting a party on Halloween. Sure, the last Halloween had been mostly harmless and Tony and Pepper's party had gone off without a hitch. But I'd been on the island far too long to trust in its benevolence ( Read more... )

Coraline had to admit despite the eight o'clock curfew, that Coraline was going to ignore, this party was pretty cool. Coraline finally, finally had an excuse to wear her Robin costume and Adam couldn't tell her off for acting childish. Halloween was the best holiday ever. Coraline could act like a kid, get fed so much candy and sweets that she would be hyper for hours, wear a cool costume, dance like an idiot, prank people and not get told off at all. Coraline loved Halloween. It was brilliant.

Dancing away to the Monster Mash Coraline giggled and grinned as she twirled about.

[[OOC: Coraline is also dressed as favourite superhero Robin. If you catch her after eight she will be wearing a blue wig and denying all knowledge of being thirteen or called Coraline. Feel free to try and throw her out.]]

He isn't shaky, he's over it, but he's still almost weak with relief to see Coraline whole and safe and in one piece. He cuts an incongrous figure, cape discarded, but he needs to talk to her.

"Hey, love," he says, keeping his tone light. "You're alright?"

"It's not eight yet you can't make me go!" Coraline said automatically, looking incredibly guilty as if she already had plans to stay. Which was of course true. Coraline smiled, trying to distract Adam whilst she nodded her head. "Yep, shouldn't I be alright? Is something the matter? Did you go into my room?"

Because as with all teenagers Coraline had plenty of things in there she did not want Adam finding out about. Like the knife or the fighting sticks or worse the notebook that had Mrs Jacob Black written all over it

"Wait more importantly did you let Harry eat all my sweets? Because I won't be mad at her. Harriet! Not Harry." Coraline said rather quickly. Coraline had of course already started in on her sweet stockpile.

"I'm not going to make you go."

He reaches out and snags her by the shoulder, dragging her in for a hug, holding onto her maybe a little bit tight. "Don't go into any of the clouds, okay, love? It's not safe."

"Good because I think eight is a stupid curfew anyway. I'm not a baby," Coraline said before she let out an oh of surprise when Adam hugged her rather tightly. Coraline looked up confused for a moment before hugging Adam tightly back. "Why? What's in them? Alright, I won't go in them I promise."

Though that is exactly what she wants to do now that he's told her not to.

"You'll have to go home eventually," says Adam, stroking her fair hair. And there are really nasty things in there, Coraline. Me and Sarah went in. Just...don't, okay? Promise me."

"I know, I won't be out late. It's just, it's so unfair that I have to go home with the babies. All my friends are here and it's just not fair that they get to stay and have fun but I don't because I'm not old enough to be trusted." Coraline said. Some of her friends weren't even here yet, it wasn't fair that she'd get to spend maybe half an hour at the party with them before being forced out so the grown ups could drink and be silly. Really, it wasn't like Coraline was going to drink that stuff- it tasted awful. She'd already tried it. "Okay, I won't. I won't daddy I promise. Is mum okay? Sarah, I mean."

"We're both fine, Coraline. Sarah's here somewhere, too." He relaxes his hold on her al ittle, still keeping her close.

"If I hear you've been up to somethin,g there'll be trouble, Coraline Carter."

Maybe his heart's not in it tonight, though.

"Okay," Coraline said hugging Adam even tighter when he relaxed his hold on her. Even dads sometimes needed hugs. Though they were brave enough to pretend they didn't need them. "What trouble could I get into? It's a party. Nothing bad could happen. And I'm not going to do anything silly apart from dancing and I'm not going to go into the clouds. So, I can't get into trouble, can I?"

"Just stay at the party and nothing bad's going to happen," says Adam, wishing that he could believe that. If anybody can get themselves into trouble from a standing start, it's Coraline.

"You're the best daddy," Coraline said grinning as Adam told her she could stay at the party. Well, that was what she was taking away from it anyway. "And when I do go home, I'll get Bill or someone to take me back. Have you seen Bill's costume? He's Batman. He came as Batman for me."

"Did he really?" asks Adam, no stranger to dressing for someone else. "That's...remarkably kind of him."

"Yep! He's so cool daddy, he's going to be the best husband ever when I'm older. We're going to go on adventures and eat really nice food not recipes and I'm going to set up a Clinic for kids and it'll be brilliant." Coraline said smiling brightly. Bill of course had no idea of Coraline's plans for them other than she was going to marry him and she planned to keep it that way. "He's the best. Well, him and Jacob and Percy."

The Doctor was beginning to feel an underlying sense of dread, for no apparent reason. It had nothing to do with the fact that he'd spotted Coraline J...Carter now, wasn't it...thinking that a blue wig last seen on Lady Gaga would fool anyone.

And hopped up on sweeties, most likely, from the way she was dancing. The Doctor did not envy the Carters much at this particular time. He decided to play along, for a moment.

"Evening," he said casually.

"AAAAH! Er, hello!" Coraline screamed before grinning brightly at the Doctor. It was only then that she remembered she wasn't supposed to have met the Doctor. Well, not the Other Coraline- Caroline anyway. But then again maybe her legend was just really cheery and friendly. She decided she was. "Do you want to dance? I love this song, it's brilliant."

"Um, sure." The Doctor was pretty sure the song was Oingo Boingo, which he would have bet that Coraline didn't know, but that didn't fool him. Particularly the squealing.

"Sure. So...what brings you to this party?" he asked, deciding to set her up.
