"First lesson," Cable said as he blocked Seifer's sword strokes with his Psimitar, "your weapon is only as good as it's reach."
"Save your advice for someone who needs it, old man," Seifer growled as he danced around lunging at his opponent again and again.
It was a warm day but overcast and the cover of the trees meant that both of them still had plenty of energy.
"Second lesson," Cable continued as Seifer charged forward; pushing back his spear with the pulsating gunblade. "Never be afraid to cheat."
And as he said it, his artificial left eye, which was locked onto Seifer's, suddenly blazed with a bright yellow light and blinded the boy long enough for Cable to take advantage. A blow with his metal left arm sent the gunblade spinning to floor and a following high kick knocked Seifer flat on his back.
"Third lesson," Cable said smugly as Seifer looked up to find the two weapons both on a pile in the floor and a massive half metal soldier standing in his way, "a weapon is only useful when it's still in your hand."
Seifer pulled himself to his feet and started running, all he needed to do was dodge past the other man and reach his gunblade and this little contest of wills would be over. But Cable was waiting for him and another blow from that powerful metal fist dropped him to the floor again.`
"Come back tomorrow," Cable said as he offered the boy a hand up. "Maybe you'll do better next time."
"Count on it," Seifer said bitterly, as he ignored the hand and rose to his feet by himself. "Every fight I lose just takes me one step closer to never losing again."
Cable smiled slightly as he watched the blond teenager pick up his weapon and leave. That was an attitude he could approve of.
(OOC: Your pup can have seen as much or as little of that as you like. This is mostly an EP for Cable but if you want Seifer instead just say so.)
