the reeling

Nightmares. Everyone has them. Especially everybody in the superhero line of business. A younger Teddy wouldn't have expected all the costs that came with wearing the suit. Yet if he could go back in time to change his decision he wouldn't - and not just because time travel is always a Very Bad Idea. It was as much a non-decision as it was back then.

Even when he had vague dreams about sterile dungeons and sharp cutting tools, where he healed and healed and they didn't stop cutting. Billy watching and trying to scream, but not being able to to, or worse, not even trying at all. It makes Teddy shiver in the cool night air as he slides out of bed as carefully as possible. There's a t-shirt on the floor and he pulls it on over his boxers and pads out of the room into the hallway. Billy might wake up to find him missing, but the need to get away from that gut-deep fear and nearly-palpable pain is too great.

He doesn't wander far, though, just down to the kitchen, in case Billy comes looking for him. He fills a glass of water from the tap and wanders to a window, staring out at the lightening sky. The sun coming up will hopefully burn away the lingering haze hanging over his mind. Getting up extra-early for Eli's morning practises was always horrible, but right now Teddy could use one of them to clear his mind and work his body back into exhaustion. Instead he'll settle for the silence of early dawn until he can work the dream far enough out of his head that he feels safe crawling back into bed and closing his eyes.

[ooc: calling all insomniacs! despite what you may think, he's perfectly sociable and meeting him now would not be a bad thing. if your character also happens to be up at this unholy hour, of course. ST welcome, new tags until Wed.]
