She’s probably being ridiculous. Somewhere, deep down, Lexie is entirely aware of this, though not enough to question doing so in the first place. The thing about sex with Alex is that it’s exactly that: sex. No feelings, no strings attached, just a way of having fun. After all she’s been through lately, she deserves this, a chance to feel good ( Read more... )

Davos tended to go to bed early. He oft woke early, he still loved the hour before dawn, and he worked hard both sailing and building and so could do with the rest. So when Lexie appeared, he was already nearly asleep in the space beside her.

And it must be said, he did not make an attractive sight. He was an old man, who had five and a half decades of a tough life behind him, and one who had not got used to the excessive cleanliness of modern life. And, as he slept naked save for the two two totems he wore around his neck, a leather pouch and an ivory turtle, his scars were all on show, both the shortened fingers on his left hand and the discolored flesh that marked where each of his limbs had been touched by flames.

And it wasn't until the girl pulled his sheet closer to her that he felt the disturbance and opened his eyes. To see something he wasn't expecting

He blinked once and then forced himself awake, eyes wide. He drew back automatically and then he could only stare at her, completely shocked. Davos realized he should say something, to try and calm the situation, but no words came to mind.

Likewise shocked, Lexie, too, did nothing but stare for what felt like a long few moments, eyes so wide they couldn't have gotten any wider. The scarring wasn't even that pressing a concern, at least so far; she had seen just as bad before, and wasn't in any emotional state to assess whether or not the wounds seemed to have been properly treated. No, what mattered most to her was that she was suddenly in bed with someone who definitely wasn't Alex Karev, who was not, in fact, anyone she recognized at all. It was, quite frankly, terrifying.

Though her mouth opened wordlessly, at first, she finally found it in her to speak. Voice quiet, and fairly high-pitched, she asked, "...Where am I?"

"My hut," Davos replied. He was eager to point out that she was the trespasser and not him.

"But 'twas not me who brought you here," he added quickly in as comforting a voice as he could manage. "Nor I do I mean you any harm."

There were obvious conclusions to come to when you wake up naked in a mans bed and he had no wish to deal with her panicking.

He got out of bed, heedless of his own nudity, and tossed her a shirt and a pair of trousers he picked up. He did not have any women's clothing in his hut, of course, but it would do for the time being.

Despite his comment about not meaning her any harm, it wasn't until there were clothes in her hands that Lexie let out the breath she'd been holding. Eagerly, she pulled the shirt over her head, not letting go of the sheet until she was sure her chest would be covered. The pants would be a little more difficult to maneuver, but at least she was no longer clinging to a bedsheet to maintain some semblance of modesty. Just because she wasn't especially bothered by nudity in general, and wasn't about to tell a stranger to put that away, didn't mean she wanted to go putting everything on display.

"Who did, then?" she asked expectantly, the edge in her voice due only to worry. "Bring me here, I mean, because this definitely wasn't where I was a few seconds ago, and things like this, they don't just... happen."

While she was dressing herself, Davos took the opportunity to do the same. He pulled on some trousers, a shirt and a single glove for his crippled left hand. He made no move to put on boots though as he had no real desire to leave the hut and he thought the time was better spent throwing a cloak over the sword and knife he kept next to the bed. Best not to spook her too much, if he could help it.

"I would call it the gods' will," he replied slowly. "Something that you can but endure, not control or understand. 'Tis the Isle of Tabula Rasa, this, and we all arrive here one moment after being elsewhere, though it's not oft..." he paused to pick the right words, a slight smile playing on his lips, as she was an attractive girl after all, "quite like that."

The way he talked was strange, making Lexie think of Shakespeare or something like that, but comparatively speaking, it was the least of her worries. She listened intently, only because what he was telling her didn't make any sense in the slightest. It just wasn't something that happened, people suddenly appearing on an island out of nowhere like this; it was physically impossible. If he was crazy, though, then so was she, because this was about as far from Alex's bedroom as it was possible to get.

"What, you mean wearing nothing but a sheet?" she asked with a weak attempt at a smile, said sheet still draped carefully over her waist as she pulled on the pants he had given her. "No offense, but... You know that sounds insane, right? The whole freaky island thing?"

"I'm a sailor," Davos replied with a shrug. "I've heard stranger tales than that before."

"Oft about naked girls in beds, too," he added dryly. "I am somewhat glad I don't have to explain this one to my wife."

The truth was, he didn't much care whether she believed him or not, as long as she didn't view him as a threat. She'd find out soon enough that he was right, either way. More important was that she didn't think he wished to take her by force and kicked up a storm about it. Best she thought of him as a harmless married old man instead, for one thing it was largely true.

"Pretty sure the guy I was waiting for could've said the same thing," Lexie replied under her breath, tone dry. While she didn't exactly feel bad about the situation with Alex, given all that he'd gone through with Izzie, the fact remained that he was still married. Of course, this was also about as far from that situation as it was possible to get, tension lingering in her shoulders despite how much she'd calmed down. "I've seen some strange things, but this... definitely tops the list."

"Aye?" Davos replied casually. It was unlikely to stay the strangest thing she'd seen, if she was here for any amount of time, of course.

He opened the door of his hut, in any case. It was still light outside, if not far from dusk, and the view was enough to add strength to his claims.

"Yup," Lexie said, nodding, not yet paying much attention to what he was doing. "I'm a doctor, a surgeon, we've gotten some really weird cases, and - oh wow." The view out the door was, admittedly, gorgeous; had she not been so suddenly uprooted from Seattle, it was something she might have actually been able to enjoy. As it was, she was too disoriented to truly appreciate it, but it was definitely a nice view. "That... looks like an island, yeah."

"It's not a bad place this," he said slowly. "Not home but if we must be exiled we could do far worse. And doctors, at least, are always useful wherever they are."

"The name is Davos," he added with a nod of his head.

"Lexie," she replied, finally standing up, figuring it wouldn't exactly do any good to keep sitting around on his bed. She was going to need to see this place eventually, as much as she may not have really wanted to, still partly convinced that she was going to snap out of it any second and be back in Seattle. "Thank you. For... for this. I can't say it makes a whole lot of sense, the whole not being at home anymore thing, but thank you."

"No need," Davos replied. "We all arrive here alone and friendless. I have not forgotten when I was the one who needed help. And you were not too unpleasant a sight, in truth."

"I can point you towards the men in charge here," he added in a more serious tone, "and they'll give you a bed and some food, but no doubt you'll wish to know more first."

He himself would never enter any situation blind if he could help it and he assumed others thought likewise. He expected she'd have some questions for him, in any case.

"Yeah, that was kind of the point," Lexie replied quietly, almost smiling. She was settled enough now, at least, to be able to take such a statement at face value, almost a compliment. She'd been trying to look hot for Alex and wound up in someone else's bed; she wasn't an especially vain girl, but it only made sense that she still would have been hot.

She nodded after a moment, head tilting to the side. "I'm... definitely still pretty lost."

Davos couldn't pretend he didn't know what she meant by that. He'd known a lot of men who'd react to a naked girl in their bed by taking her by force and, in truth, he couldn't even blame them too much. But he wasn't one of them, not even when at war, and, in this case, he felt raping her would be foolish as well as dishonorable. If he read the people of this Island right, that would not be something they would allow to go unpunished.

"So," he said, not letting any of his thoughts show on his face, "what do you want to know first?"

"God, I don't even know where to start," Lexie sighed, shaking her head a little. It was bewildering, all of it, and while what she really wanted to know was how the hell this could even have been possible in the first place, that much had pretty much been answered for her already. "I mean, I don't even know how a place like this can exist, so... Is there anything else I should know?"
