Friday night at The Winchester

Friday nights at the Winchester had very quickly become a part of George's routine. Because he'd apparently gone insane when he'd signed up for classes, it meant both Chinese and Japanese on the same day, which were difficult enough to learn without the possibility of accidentally mixing them up during class. In fact, he was still beating himself up over using the Japanese aruku instead of the Chinese xíng when he went in early for his shift at The Winchester, and managed to ruin over three hours of work on a modified Boeuf Bourguignon recipe while he drilled himself on Chinese verbs.

So instead, it was shepherd's pie as the main course tonight, finished a bit later than he would have liked and a little thrown together, but still good. He finished up the meal with roasted vegetables and freshly baked bread and settled behind the counter to get a jump start on dessert.
