Matt frequently tried not to think about the island in terms of I've been here for three freaking years or all of my friends keep disappearing or oh god I miss the internet. He didn't need a therapist to tell him that he'd just drive himself insane thinking like that. Besides, it wasn't like there was anything he could do about it. But Matt's preferred way of dealing with these things was, conveniently, to not deal. (That, or to have some sort of full blown freak-out, but despite the fact that he generally did next to nothing with his time, he just couldn't muster the energy for that.

And, really, for the most part, there wasn't too much different about this place, compared to the real world which he came from. There were even batshit crazy people blowing things up on the island, so, hey, points for that.

In fact, the biggest difference was that Matt was currently willingly spending time outside, propped up against a tree, the ocean within eyesight, reading an ancient book on MS-DOS. He could always do with a little refresher course.
