He really ought to know better by now. Born and raised in Southern California, Brad's been surfing for almost as long as he can remember. Both he and his sister had learned to surf as children and then'd spent plenty of time on the water and, uually, the first thing that Brad did when he got home from a deployment was pick up his board and hit the water.

So he surfs a lot on the island, definitely surfs enough to know the waves by now. The majority of surf-related injuries happen in above-head height waves; Brad knows this as a certainty. Close to his hairline (not so visible now that his hair's grown out), a scar from the time his board slammed him and all but knocked him out completely. That time, he'd been lucky that his sister had been in the water. This time, it's barely anything: a sharp, sudden pain in his wrist that settles down into a dull, hot throb, and it looks swollen by the time he gets himself out of the water.

It's not the first time that he's sprained his wrist, not even the first time that he's sprained his wrist surfing, which doesn't make it any less fucking irritating.

He drops his board on the sand and sits down ont he towel to examine it. He's spent most of the day down on the beach, belongings scattered around him on the sand so getting home is going to be interesting.

He gives the ocean a rueful look.
He really ought to know better by now.

ooc: find Brad anywhere along the beach that suits your pup!`
