The rain having gone a fortnight ago was very much a good thing, as far as Evey was concerned. That much rain reminded her of London's weather, which had always been fairly depressing other than the rain on the night she'd discovered V's deception. That was exhilarating rain, but it was certainly an exception. She'd gone only to the school, compound, and her hut during July, and even then she'd been soaked and muddy every time she did. Rollo had been absolutely miserable as well. He wasn't made for that much water to be on his fur. Snow, certainly, that was quite fine with him, but water and mud made him much less happy.
Now that the rain had been gone and things had dried out, she'd begun to move around a bit more. Today, for example, was a beautiful day and one that made her wish for a picnic, so she made herself one. It was a little bit depressing that she was having a picnic with herself (and Rollo, if he chose to attend), but there was nothing to be done for it. She didn't wish to interrupt Peter or Kate or Geoffrey's afternoons just because she wanted a picnic, after all. They definitely had other things to do with their lives.
She got some scones, fruit, sandwiches, and a thermos of tea together, then added food and utensils to a basket containing a truly hideous sheet and made her way to the small clearing by the waterfall. Even if it was just her, she'd have a lovely picnic.
