It had seemed a straightforward idea at the beginning of the term. Eventually being able to replace her bullets wasn't the only reason she'd taken metallurgy and chemistry, but it had seemed like the ability to do so would eventually result.
It turned out these things were considerably more complicated than that, and so she was left with a gun she couldn't practice with. Not sensibly, anyway. Getting good with it didn't serve much purpose if she ended up with no ammo when she actually used it.
Today's was a pointless exercise, really, standing at the archery range, aiming Shep's gun at one of the targets, putting pressure on the trigger and then relaxing before it reached the point the weapon fired.
Maybe she should make herself a new bow, if she remembered how. That at least she could shoot all she wanted. But that wasn't quite the same. Every weapon she had, both currently on her person -- which was just the gun and Romance, today, she was travelling light -- and back at Summerfell, she'd gotten from someone else. She could make a bow, but it would just be a bow, nothing else.
She frowned, and lined up the shot again. Didn't take it, again.
