Walt watches the red haired chick for a while, an amused grin on his face. It's not the most usual thing to him to see girls that excited about video games, but it's welcome. Sauntering over, he stands next to her, his hands in his pockets as he asks, "You up for somebody else joining in the game?"

Danica gave him a cursory glance before her gaze turned back on the game again.

"...Okay." Suddenly nervous though she was, she managed a smile and hit pause, scooting over to give him room to sit. "I feel it right to warn you that I'm really good. Stupidly good. I don't really know how..." She trailed off in wonderment, then shook her head and came back to earth. "And I take no prisoners."

Grinning back at her, Walt sits down next to her, taking the controller he finds. "In that case," he gives her a shrug, "I think I should warn you I'm not good at this?" He gestures at the paused screen.

Then he gives her another grin and tells her, "I learn real quick, though. I'm Walt."

Danica let out an unexpected laugh, feeling a little giddy. There was a hot guy talking to her and wanting to play video games. Could it get any better? Inwardly, she rolled her eyes but she couldn't stop the embarrassed smile from showing.

"And I also think I should warn you that I'm not good in social situations and I'm finding it a little hard to breathe now," she let out quickly, sucking in a breath and fanning her face. The least Danica could do is warn anybody wanting to talk to her neurotic and thankfully temporary self and give them time to back away slowly. And since she absolutely did not want anybody to know that it was actually her playing the game, she added: "I'm Cyd...uh...I think it's short for something. Doesn't it sound short for something to you? I think it does, I tend to talk a lot too, I'm sorry."

Walt turns his whole body around, looking at her instead of the screen. "I-," he begins, not sure what to say, but he finally settles on, "I'm sorry?" He gets the feeling, but having somebody admit it outright to his face is something he's not used to, so he just gives her a sheepish smile.

Then he cocks his head at her. Let's be honest here, dawg, this is getting weirder by the second. "Shouldn't you know if it was short for something? I mean, it's your name-"

Walt cuts himself off and then raises one eyebrow. "Unless you're not actually you. You know. In there."

"No, no, don't be sorry," she insisted, reaching a hand out to his knee before realising what she'd done. "I.....'m just gonna take this back." Her hand returned to her own vicinity shortly after.

With the guy facing her and all, Danica started to feel like she was under the microscope. The pressure. She leaned forward quickly. "Anxiety attack!" After letting out a breath of air, she was okay again and was able to return the guy's look. "I don't know much about my ancestry...heh. You know, none of this is important, let's play!"

Walt barely has the time to notice the hand on his knee before it's gone again. He shifts a bit, turning his body away from her so she doesn't feel too pressured, and then asks, "Are you okay? I'm just curious. I mean I've seen-" buckets of crazy, "people who happen to be uncomfortable around other people, but you seem a lot more-" nuts, dawg, "uncomfortable?"

He takes the controller nonetheless, waiting for her to unpause the game.

"Uh huh, yeah, I'm fine," Danica assured him, adding a little chirp to her voice to put him off the scent. "I'm always like this, this is normal for me. Shall we play now?"

She unpaused the game and immediately felt herself getting pulled back into it. "So um, what uh....what do you do? ...Walt."

If this is normal for her, Walt thinks, she must be a lot to handle. But then again, you probably get used to it if you spend some time with her. If this is really some girl named Cyd in there. You'd think one would at least know their whole name, wouldn't you?

"I'm playing this game?" He jokes lamely. "I'm sorry. I don't do much. I go for runs in the morning, and then I see what I can do."

Playing alongside her for a bit, he asks her, "What about you? What do you do for fun?"

"Umm, this?" Danica replied, though hers was a more genuine reply. "And stuff, you know. I know what I don't do for fun, I don't throw up on people, that's for sure." Except that she totally did and Danica totally blamed that on the body. "And I meant what did you do before Hells Island? Me, I was a vamp--watch out, I'm going to stab you! Die! Die, you unctuous bastard!"

Walt blinks and then turns around again, shamelessly looking at her. This girl - Cyd - doesn't look like a vampire; especially not like those he's seen on TV. They're dangerous, they're badass, and most important: They're self-confident and not socially awkward. Sure, there's been some flukes on Buffy, but this? Is big.

"I was a Marine," he tells her, doing his best to go back to a neutral expression. The fact that his character is dying on the screen really helps with that.

"Heal yourself!" Danica commanded, leaning over and twiddling Walt's knob with one hand. It wouldn't be any fun if she killed him this easily. She suddenly felt the uncontrollable need to use her cleavage but she wasn't sure what for, so she settled for straightening her back and sticking her chest out a little bit.

Just a little bit.

"A Marine? Wow...I think." She paused for a moment to consider her feelings as best she could. Danica didn't do very well with feelings though. "Yes, I'm wow'ed. Wow."

Walt notices the straightened back and the stuck-out chest, but he has enough decency - and willpower, thank God - to keep looking her in the eyes. He's a devil dog, not a goddamn horn dog.

He gives her a proud grin and nods his head. "It's great," he tells her, "I love it."

"Does your girlfriend, wife...boyfriend or husband love that you love it...?" Danica asked tentatively, wide eyes darting everywhere except at Walt.

God, her back was starting to ache.

"Boyfriend?" Walt repeats, blinking at her. He doesn't mind gay people, God beware, but being pined for one? "I-" he begins. His last girlfriend loved the fact that he was a Marine, so he just shrugs.

"Don't have one," he says to all of those options.

"Huh." Danica was suddenly struck with the thought of doing something good. For someone else. It felt weird. She hadn't done a good deed in centuries, so maybe she was due.

Taking a reassuring breath, she paused the game again without warning and turned towards him. "You know, you should come and find me again in a couple of days." Walt was single, Cyd was single...she thought, so somebody ought to be getting some.
