It was the little moments Ellie liked the most with her daughter.

Four months old now, Madeline was well on her way to being an active, energetic toddler. She took interest in nearly everything now, and Ellie was all too happy to fill her days with new things. They didn't have a lot of toys here, so she knew it was put on them to keep her entertained and her mind active.

She decided it was a good day to sit in the Compound rec room with her the moment she realized the bookshelf had actually given her an age-appropriate collection of nursery rhymes. Finding a spot on one of the couches to sit down, she gently propped her daughter against her chest and opened the book once Ellie saw she was settled and comfortable.

The pictures were colorful and eye-catching. Within moments of opening up the book, Madeline was already touching the pages, her eyes wide and curious. Ellie was sure she didn't even need to read the stories to keep Madeline's attention, but she did anyway, pausing each time she seemed to focus on a certain part of the picture to say what it was. It felt like as good a time as any to work on teaching her words.

"Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, and can't tell where to find them," she read outloud, smiling when Madeline pointed to one of the hiding sheep in the picture. "That's one of her sheep, Maddie. Do you want to see a real one? We can go look at the livestock later."

She was pretty sure thee were some there. Putting aside the idea for the moment, she went back to reading the story. She'd consider the idea when Madeline lost interest in the book in front of her. For now, she seemed too focused to pull it away.

[OOC: Never a bad time to meet her. Timed to the afternoon.]
