Walt doesn't find Pam in her hut this morning.

This itself isn't weird. What kind of (not kind of, but surely) freaks him out is Cujo, her dog, the one she never leaves the house with, still sits in the middle of the hut, staring up at Walt.

"Hey, dog," Walt says, kneeling down in front of him, his hands carding through the dog's fur, "Where's Pam?" He asks, looking for any kind of hint of the dog knowing. Cujo looks back at him, seemingly calm apart from a little whine he gives Walt.

Something ain't right here, Walt thinks, and somehow, he knows. He just knows, but it doesn't keep him from searching the whole island for Pam.

Walt's taken the dog with him, even carrying the harness Pam used to use with him, in case he finds her. He checks the familiar routes, all of the places he knows Pam used to be at, even checks their places twice, but he doesn't find her.

Maybe she just needs some time alone, Walt thinks, hopes, but he knows she doesn't.

It's hours later Walt finally sits down on Pam's porch, the dog sat beside him, and lets it seep in.

Pam's gone, and he's still here.

[ST/LT very welcome, as I tend to be kind of slow myself. (;]
