Council Election Party

May 31, 2010 12:37

It was always a good day when the democratic process had been carried out without a hitch, and this day was no exception. The results of the latest Island Council election were in, and it was time to celebrate, not only the results, but the process itself. And given the number of hardships they endured on the island, a celebration was something ( Read more... )

In her time, Daisy's seen more governments rise and fall than most people stock in friends. The Island's turnover rate is just adding more logs to that pretty little pile storing up in her mental banks and like always, she wants to be there. Some part of her wants to stand here as history happens so that she'll remember it and be able to say 'and I saw that too'.

Not that anything too exciting ever happens. It's more of the same, really, and Daisy likes keeping tabs on things, but doesn't expect to be too shocked by anything. Not tonight.

"Hey there, beautiful." Though the moves called for Johnny showing up with an extra glass of whatever alcoholic drink was available for Daisy, he was bare handed as he came up beside her, sliding an arm around her waist.

"And hello to you, handsome," Daisy replies right back, leaning into his arm because of all the things she knows in the universe, she knows to drink the good wine, enjoy the good times, and never deny a handsome man a good grope. "And don't you look fancy for tonight."

"I figure being part of Pete's campaign means getting an excuse to dress up for the night." For a given definition of campaign, which mostly meant Mary Jane, Felicia and Johnny talking people into voting for him.

"I think those pretty eyes of yours and that gorgeous body give you the excuse to dress up anytime you like," she points out, not mincing words when it comes to something she's sure Johnny already knows. "And so what is the Peter Parker Camp's victory plan?"

He never really needed help in the ego department, but Johnny's shoulders straightened just that much more as he gave Daisy a grin. "Enjoy this party, go home with a gorgeous girl and get to the real work tomorrow."

"And will I be helping you in procuring a gorgeous girl this fine evening, Johnny?" she asks, letting her fingers toy idly with the hair at the back of his neck. Really, you don't just dangle a man like Johnny in front of a woman who can be as handsy as Daisy. Wandering hands is just a fact of life.

Johnny reached up to take Daisy's hand, then brought it up to his lips for a kiss. "Daisy, you can be that gorgeous girl."

If there was one thing he liked most about Daisy, it was how things were so easy with her -- and not in the way that usually got him a slap for his trouble.

"So long as you can handle bedding an almost-thirty year old," Daisy insists, even though thirty's been a long time ago and she's pushing a hundred at this rate. But her face and those little lines around her eyes say thirty and as much as she wants to shut their little faces up, she can't avoid it. She takes her hand away and turns to him, tucking her fingers into the waist of his pants to bring herself on her toes and give him a proper kiss. "Well?"

Johnny scoffed. "I've already leaped that hurdle, and if you think that is going to bug me, you've got a lot to learn about me."

He bent his knees just enough to give Daisy another kiss. "Besides, you barely look a day over twenty. And I'm not just saying that to flatter you."

She wrinkles her nose at the kiss and the compliment, but doesn't ease away until she's lazily and eagerly stolen enough of a kiss to feel good about it. "I'm well-preserved," she says, even if there's no embalming fluid to do with cremation and she strokes his cheek with her fingers, delicate and knowing at once. "C'mon, let's get out of here already."

I spotted her in the crowd and didn't hesitate to make my way towards her. After all, I never hesitated when it was to get to the side of a particularly fetching lady (or gentleman), especially if I enjoyed the conversation was well as her looks. Just a pretty face, you see, could be found anywhere and were good for very little at such a crowded party.

I smiled a little wider when I reached her side and bowed. "Hello."

Daisy turns and lights up with pure delight to see a very charming and handsome man. She likes keeping those surrounding her, almost like a little orbit of men, keeping her steady and safe. "Mr. Box," she greets pleasantly. "I should've known you would come to show off your fineries."

"I wouldn't have missed it for the world," I said, chuckled and offered her my hand. Of course, I'm terribly pleased she remembered me, not that I am forgettable, but it is a big island. "How have you been, my dear?"

"An ever-eternal monotony," she replies, making it sound whimsical and delightful when it really is mindnumbing and doesn't look to be changing anytime soon. "Every day I wonder if today is the day when I'll snap and scream. And you?"

She most certainly didn't seem the type to be happy just hanging around doing absolutely nothing on an island all day, and wondered what she would have been like had I met her elsewhere and not on this island. I chuckled a little and let out a breath. "It is the same, I am afraid. It's nothing like my life at home, but I supposed I fair well enough. I create my own fun, as they say." I gave her a wicked grin.
