Owen had been having kind of a shit day. Of course, those came more often than not on the island, but that didn't make those days any less shit. As a result, Owen was currently tromping though the jungle, just off of the beaten path, on his way to Helen's. If there was one thing that would cheer him up, it was a good shag, and god knew she was good for it.

Cutting through the graveyard might have been a bit morbid, but it was a quicker route, and Owen had never really had a problem with dead bodies and cemeteries in the first place. It was the sort of thing that came with his line of work, after all. In fact, there had been times in the past that he'd legitimately wondered if he's spent more time around corpses than around actual people.

Nearing the edge of the cemetery, Owen stopped, the sight of something familiar catching his eye. For a second, he thought he'd just been seeing things, but when he turned round again, it was still there, Katie Russell written in the stone in large letters.

It was Katie's tombstone, though it should have been back home. It was just...there, perfectly lined up with the others like it had been there all along. Suddenly Owen was back to five years ago, standing there in his suit, thinking that he'd gone insane. Suddenly, it was like he was living it all over again.

And the worst part of it all, maybe worse than the tombstone itself, was what it brought to mind. He couldn't help but remember the bad times first, watching Katie lose more and more of herself as the days went by, watching her sleep late at night without any fucking idea what he was going to do about it all. He'd felt helpless; more helpless than he'd ever felt in his entire life.

He barely noticed when five minutes had gone by, then nearly ten, and he was still standing there, not quite sure what to do.
