The worst part about the whole thing was that he wasn't even stoned.
Taking the dogs for a walk was a regular part of Lennox's routine on the island every morning, although he never took the same path two days in a row. Sometimes he'd take them to the beach, sometimes they'd trek through the jungle and, on days like today, they went for the mountain. The dogs both loved it -- although, they loved their walks no matter where they went -- and it was something that reminded Lennox a little bit of home. There hadn't been any mountains in Long Bay, but it was about as close to the mines as he could get and even though he'd never wanted to work in the mines, they were still familiar. They were still home.
As Hal bounded ahead of him, Lennox glanced up at her and grinned, patting his pockets for a joint. He was sure there was one somewhere and he hadn't smoked anything yet today, which seemed like some sort of tragedy. As he was looking, Hal barked at something and Lennox looked up sharply, even though he knew she likely wasn't in any danger.
It was just a stupid misstep. A loose rock or a bit of dirt that slid under his foot and, without the time to even yell in surprise, Lennox was tumbling down the side of a gentle slope, thinking it was lucky he hadn't gone much higher. The fall sure as hell wasn't going to kill him, but it hurt as his shoulder bounced off a stone.
Rolling to a stop, Lennox flopped over onto his back and winced, knowing he was going to be bruised in a few hours. The dogs came running over, both sniffing and whining, trying to make sure he was okay and he sat up, waving them away. "I'm fine," he muttered as he tried to get to his feet, but something in his ankle let him know that wasn't about to happen.
"Shit," he hisses, falling to the ground again. "This is awesome. Stuck in the jungle with two dogs for help."
[He's not far from the boardwalk, so if anyone wants to come help him limp back to the Compound, that would be greatly appreciated. XD]
