She'd set out to map the stars of the island, knowing full well how difficult that could be. It might even prove impossible, but she worked toward it anyway. It was pleasant business, and certainly kept her distracted from any longing she might have had for her dwindled coffee supply--especially given that the Compound coffee had just as much caffeine in it as her own specialty flavors had.

Night wasn't the only time that she used the telescope that arrived on her doorstep in January, though. Some days she chose to scan the morning skies, or search the horizon for answers. Today it was early evening, and she sat on one of New Atlantis' benches, nursing a cup of soup, and Sedgewick rested nearby, having worn himself out running about the area only a short while before. The stars would be showing soon, and she had her notepad with the stars she had marked lying on the bench next to her.

It was quite the peaceful night, really. Days like these, she certainly didn't mind spending her life on the island. It'd been a year and a half, now, since her arrival on the island. Since she'd thought her life was over, and what was left of her would shortly be betraying those she held most dear. It was true, there was much they'd lost in that time, New Atlantis and herself, lives interrupted, some even stolen away. There were certainly days, as well, she would have much preferred to skip. Yet, she thoroughly appreciated finding herself on the island.

How hard it was to believe she'd found herself on the island, and yet she'd spent half the time here as she had on Atlantis. Less eventful, and she certainly wouldn't have said she preferred this life to the one that Atlantis offered, yet...it was just as real and as valid, and she was just as thankful for it and for those she's met here.

And the stars were finally beginning to shine.
