Jack's nails were still bright pink from the drag night at the club. They were an endless source of fascination for Nate. Jack had agreed to watch the boy for a while today and had made himself comfortable in the rec room. Nate was beginning to look more like Gwen than Peter to Jack, not that he waxed poetic about it or anything. There wasn't time, even if he'd wanted to.
The pair had already had a snack, read books, and played with cars. Nate was engrossed in building a tower with blocks and Jack was taking a breather. The kid was nothing but energy. Energy and a nonstop stream of chatter.
"Jack, look," he heard and looked over to check out the tower.
"That's good, kiddo," he said, taking a few blocks and stacking them himself. Nate promptly smacked both towers and giggled as they came crashing down.
"Trucks," he said, handing Jack a truck and then taking one himself and driving it up Jack's arm and over his head, making a funny rumble that he had to be imitating from someone. There was no way he'd actually heard the rumble of an internal combustion engine here...well, except for the few motorcycles that were around.
"I'm not a road," he laughed.
"Jack a road," Nate insisted, climbing into his lap so he could drive the car across Jack's chest.
"Oh, yeah? Nate's a road," he responed, driving his own truck over the little boy.
Ball of energy or not, Jack always had fun on these days when he had the little boy all to himself. He'd never play trucks on his own. As he made the truck fly from Nate's hair to his arm he decided what the kid really needed were some toy airplanes. Now that...that was a game he could really get behind.
