For what feels like a really long time, Charlie can't do anything but stare. She tells Ianto she's alright, and she is, she really is, but the world feels like it's spinning just a little bit quicker than she is, right then. She needs it to settle down and let her catch up. She sits down before she falls down. Two months, the doctor, said. Two months, give-or-take. Charlie looks down at the front of her dress. It looked pretty flat to her. Maybe she'd put on a little weight?
Pregnant. She's pregnant.
She ought to be joyful, right? She's wanted it for long enough. She's been trying to get pregnant since she got married, but it's more than that. Charlie Andrews was one of those little girls who always dreamed of being a Momma. Charlie Jones wasn't any different, not really. She ought to be joyful, and, somewhere inside her, she was, she really was. Mostly, though, she just felt dazed. She sat on the couch in the rec-room with Bill cozied up against her thigh, and she hugged the manilla folder against her chest. Ellie couldn't explain the brain-scans any better than Charlie could, if only to say that they showed no evidence of anything wrong with her brain. And that made no sense, but a lot of things hadn't made sense in the world that Charlie had been pushed out of, clean out of, before she'd arrived here. She couldn't shake the feeling that Hiro had had something to do with it, which, in her head, meant that he had something to do with the baby, too.
Bill shifted and Charlie reached out and scratched between his ears.
"You ready not to be the baby anymore, little man?" she asks him, and then she finds her smile.
ooc: Charlie just found out that a) she no longer has a brain aneurysm and b) she's two months pregnant with her first baby. It's an excellent time to meet her.
