Billy was generally aware that being outside meant doing outdoorsy things. Like taking a walk, going for a swim, or -- something he sorely needed -- getting a tan. Well, he'd walked down to the beach with his backpack on, wasn't really in the mood to go swimming just yet, and was sitting on a towel on the sand, basking in the sun. Or something.

While he looked a little less like a pale nerd,he still had some ways to go; half the time he tanned, half the time he burned, but he was trying, at least. It would have been too easy to stay cooped up inside the compound with all the free movies, books, video games and food any growing teenage boy could want or need.

He sat in cargo shorts and a thin blue t-shirt offering free hugs (the best he could do for the day, considering the ever growing pile of laundry on the floor of his room in the compound - that much was just like home, anyway), back curved as he used his body to block the sun from glaring off the pages of the rather heavy Norse mythology book he had in his lap.

If asked, Billy couldn't really say just how long he'd been sitting there reading instead of enjoying the outdoors like a normal kid. The only indication of the time passed was when he pulled off his sunglasses to sit up and stretch, back and neck cracking like he'd been out of action for more than just an afternoon.

It was more than hint enough that it was probably time to stop reading and start enjoying the day.
