Although Elizabeth had been thinking of it since encountering Sonya and her acquaintance sparring. She not have found time to spar with anyone yet - part of her had held back on doing so given how long it had been since she'd crossed swords with anyone even in practice. She was heading back to her hut when she passed by the Hidden Hamlet and saw Elizabeth with her sword. Sonya had yet to get one from her, and now seemed as good as any time-lord knew, after a six mile trek they would both be evenly matched more so.
"Afternoon." She said, walking over.

"Decided to get back into swordsmenship, then?" She stretched out her shoulders to keep them from seizing up, just barely cringing when she felt one pop.
Sonya looked over at Weatherby, not sure on just how Elizabeth felt on being a mother, but she had to give her credit for putting on a brave (albeit exhausted) face about it. Not that it would've made much of a difference, but there was something to be said about facing something than denying it or giving up on it.

"I am," she said. "Attempting it anyway - it's not been the most directed practice but it's better than nothing." And it had been a better practice than she had expected - Weatherby had been quiet and content. He could have objected to being left to his own devices.

She still remembered their chat on the beach, and given the unpredictability of the island, she wasn't about to turn down the chance to train with a weapon again.
And if Sonya were honest with herself-and she usually was-maybe some part of her was excited at actually owning an using a sword.

There were four sheathed small swords resting against the wall near the door. Most of what the island had brought her was still on the Empress - there was more room to store multiple sharp objects there but until Weatherby could get around on his own Elizabeth felt better having some in the house. She followed her inside, looking more at the swords than the other details.
"Looks a lot more practical than what the island gave me."
Sonya carefully pulled out one of the swords, checking it's weight on her wrist (and being mindful to not cut anyone in the process) and studying the blade.
"I'm more used to swords that slash instead of stab, but I'm a fast learner and not a total novice." She flicked the thicker part of the blade, closer to the hilt, with her fingers. "Nice. Most of the swords in my time are more for ceremonial or decorative purposes, but your husband definitely knew what he was doing." There was genuine respect in her voice.
