It was never too early to teach kid about the important things in life, and Devon was more than eager to do that. Despite Madeline being a couple of days shy of a month old, he'd already taken to telling her about sports -- and it seemed to calm her down, something that Devon found pride in, even though he knew she probably just liked hearing the ( Read more... )

"And it's only home to the best sport ever," Alice chirps as she spins around in a circle. It might be less like playing and more like dancing, but she has never seen why there should be a difference between the two.

Grinning from ear to ear as she tosses a ball up into the air and catches it, she nods emphatically. "That's good. Get 'em indoctrinated while they're young."

"Right on both counts," Devon replied, grinning from ear to ear. He liked Alice well enough, though he didn't really know her outside of the baseball games. "I think she likes hearing me talk about it."

"That's a good thing. I used to love playing baseball with my dad, so I'm pretty certain there are worse father-daughter activities."

Sure, Carlisle had been her father in the truest sense of the word, but Alice hadn't known any different. There is nothing wrong with taking the unconventional truth and making it easier to swallow.

"You get it," Devon said, looking pleased. Most people might think it was a little much, considering Madeline probably didn't understand any of it, but he couldn't really be faulted for being eager, now could he? "We'll work on football when she starts walking."

"I do." She nods as she starts palming the baseball back and forth. Age had always seemed like a highly relative thing to her, but that probably has a lot to do with her perspective on time.

"Awh, that's so cute. A little football uniform and everything."

"If I can find one, it's so happening," Devon promised, already picturing Madeline running around in a tiny Chargers jersey. "Football or baseball, either one's good."

"The box might offer one of those up?" Alice suggests in an attempt to be helpful. She knows that it is probably just as likely to give up a little cheerleader outfit but she hopes it would have better sense than that.

"Or maybe someone would make you one?"

"Either option would be awesome," Devon said, thinking about it. However it ended up happening, he knew she'd look great. "What do you think, football or baseball?"

"Baseball, definitely." It isn't even a question in Alice's mind, but her biases are pretty deep on that front.

Letting out a laugh, she shrugs. "I might be a bit biased though."
