Occasionally, the power of suggestion was a very strong motivator in making Juliet's decisions for her. Someone implied that she could dress her best and maybe she went out and empowered herself. She woke up every day on a beautiful sunny Island with a beach and eventually she was going to go dip a toe in the water.
She had a black one-piece and a baggy t-shirt waiting nearby and she was ready for day two. Day one had been largely worried about sharks in the water, jellyfish, or riptide. When nothing had happened, she marked the position on a map and came back to it for an actual swim. After living in Miami and Santa Barbara, she should've been inured to beaches, but there was something about the surf and the sand that she just adored. It made her feel alive, like there were so many possibilities.
She had managed a twenty-minute swim there and back, surfacing and picking her swimsuit away from her hips as she made her way up the sand and jogged the last bit to get her sunscreen, eager to make sure that she wasn't about to burn.
Nose, face, shoulders, arms, those were all easy. Where it became problematic (and also when she didn't have a girl-friend to help her out) was her back. "Now why couldn't I just be a Disney princess," she noted to herself as she leaned down to grab her towel to dry off before attempting a very good contortion feat. "Singing birds would make this so much easier."
