Keller-Dex wedding

Feb 20, 2010 11:29

Jennifer had been looking forward to this day ever since Ronon's ever-so-casual proposal. It wasn't a huge, lavish wedding, like little girls dream about sometimes, but it was early evening on the beach and it was beautiful. The clothes box had been nice enough, after much sweet-talking and prodding, to supply Jennifer with a pretty dress and ( Read more... )

Ronon had though the day had went pretty much perfectly. Of course the fact that Jennifer was his wife now meant that he might have had that opinion even if things hadn't gone off without a hitch. He figured Jennifer knew more of their guests than he did but he was grateful to them all for coming and being part of their day and willing to say so to any and all of the guests.

"Congratulations, Ronon," Robbie said, making his way over to offer his best wishes. Will was otherwise occupied with Ygraine and Jenny, but Heath clung to his hand, staring up at Ronon with his customary slightly awed expression whenever he saw the larger man.

Weddings still stung, a little, and he couldn't help but think of Cecilia at such times, even now. But despite that, he was incredibly happy for his friend and his new wife.

"Thanks," Ronon said grinning. He clapped Robbie on the back and then crouched down to say hi to Heath who was watching him wide eyed as always. "Hey little man," he said. He turned to Robbie. "Glad you could make it," he said sincerely. He would have understood if Robbie if all people couldn't.

"'Wo," Heath said, and reached for Ronon's hair. Both boys always liked playing with the long dreadlocks.

"Wouldn't have missed it," Robbie assured him. "I'm very happy for you both."

Ronon tilts his head forward so his tied back hair tilts forward making Heath even more hopeful. Then he moved back making Heath chase him a little in an attempt to get his hair. (This was a game that the both of the twins could generally spend hours on.)

"Did you get something to eat?" he asked.

"I was just on my way to do that," Robbie said. "The children have had some cake, but I was busy getting them settled and had to make a second trip. I ah... brought a date," he said, not uncomfortably, but as if he was unused to saying it out loud. "I hope that's all right?"

Ronon found himself curious and he scanned the party until he spotted Will with a woman and another child. There were of course people here he didn't know but he'd been assuming they were Jennifer's patients and friends. "Of course it is," he said. Which Robbie no doubt knew - but Ronon understood the impulse to ask, he nodded reassuringly at Robbie - in Ronon's view nothing was not all right with today.

"Congratulations, Ronon," Sam said, finding him in the crowd sometime later in the evening. "I'm really happy for you both." Maybe the most unlikely couple she'd ever known, but it worked for them, and that was what mattered.

"Thanks," Ronon told her grinning, he'd actually had quite a bit of cider - wedding toasts being a tradition he could get behind. "Thank you for being part of it."

"Hey, no problem," Sam said. "I guess my second career can be in public speaking or something. Seriously, though, I'm glad you're both happy. I know I wasn't on Atlantis that long, but I respect you both, and I'm glad you're making it work here."

"We had more time to work things out here," Ronon said. Everyone had more time here - Sam too despite her joke about looking for a second career. Ronon only wished it was something they could take back with them if the island ever ended their time here.

"Hey, congratulations," Jill said as she passed by Ronon on her way to grab a drink, then circled back toward him. They lived in the same area and had spoken a few times, but she didn't know him well beyond knowing he made Jennifer happy. "You both look great."

Ronon had by now shed his suit jacket - he didn't like formal wear anyway and he especially didn't like it in the island heat. So he took it mostly as a compliment for Jennifer - which he approved of. "Thanks," he said. "You enjoying the party?"

"Absolutely," Jill answered with a smile, gesturing vaguely to the group around her with a drink. "Most of the people I like best on the island, two of them looking mighty happy now that they're married, food, drinks. What's not to enjoy about it, right?"

Ronon grinned at her - for him today was pretty much guaranteed to be perfect but he was glad the guests were enjoying it too. "Nothing," he said. "It's a good day."

"So are you guys going to take off for a few days?" Jill asked curiously, taking a sip of her drink. It wasn't like they could fly off to Hawaii for a real honeymoon, but she hoped they'd still find time to spend a few days alone.
