It made perfect sense, of course, that something wacky would happen today. Alain hadn't begun the day with any intention of attending the party at the Winchester, but after more than one strange occurrence that day, he decided to seek out friends, telling himself that he was only checking on their well-being and not being nosey. If nothing else, he knew Angua would be there. He would just say hello to her and be on his way. But a drink or two later, he was actually enjoying himself. He lifted his glass to toast the person next to him. "To another merry evening despite what this place decides to throw at us."

Angua looked over in surprise from where she was trying to come up with the prettiest hairstyle. Her hair just wasn't silky enough. It had to be perfect for Roger and Dean.

"Oh, Alain, I can't toast when my hair's such a mess," she said. "What about this dress? Does my dress at least look nice?"

Alain's eyebrows arched in surprise. "You look wonderful, Angua," he said honestly. He might not know anything about womens fashions, especially the modern ones, but he always thought Angua looked nice. It was just her.

Angua worried her lower lip. "It's just...trying to keep one man happy is hard enough, but two? I don't want to disappoint Roger. Oh gosh, he's just so...so lovely," she sighed, smiling dreamily.

Alain frowned. That wasn't right. Not at all right. He'd thought her first concern strange enough coming from her, beyond the fact that she always looked lovely to him, but this was something else. "Two, Angua?" Alain asked. Roger? While he didn't know if he'd ever spoken to the man, he did know who he was. "Angua," he started, lowering his voice, "Do you have another man on the sly?"

Angua looked shocked a moment, and then laughed, swatting Alain in the arm. "Oh Alain, no. Actually it worked out perfectly, both Dean and I have the same feelings for Roger. So now we can all be together."

Had he been in Dean's place, he thought he might have been furious, not grateful that things had worked out. As it was, Alain gaped at her, not knowing what in the world to say to that until he blurted, "Do you? Both? And what about Roger?" He immediately wished he hadn't asked, but it could not be unsaid.
