It's Halloween on Tabula Rasa, and two things can absolutely be counted on: magical hijinks and a party. But when Kojak suddenly goes missing, Glen Bateman decides to leave the festivities early to go find him. Unfortunately for him, not all of the monsters afoot are as harmless as the dancing zombies. Randall Flagg takes his old friend out into the jungle, where island magic has transformed an abandoned hut into a cheesy horror-movie playground. At first things don't look good for Mr. Bateman, but a shocking development puts the Dark Man's plan on hold.

When Lloyd Henreid shows up at the scene of the crime, he tries to talk some sense into his old boss, only to be presented with an ultimatum. But as Lloyd already knows, when it comes to dealing with Flagg, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't, and the ex-demon seizes the opportunity to inform his one-time henchman that he just isn't making the cut. Before he can bury the hatchet, he's reminded that he's not the only big bad thing out prowling tonight.
