Though she had gone into things today with an open mind, Wanda's love/hate relationship with the bookshelf was strongly leaning towards the latter half of that equation at the moment. One would think that after so long, she'd have learned to just put any questionable materials back where she found them before they had the chance to completely mess with her mind, but she really hadn't. It was the scientist in her, she just couldn't leave these things be without investigating, at least somewhat.
The problem wasn't the ever-present comic books. She was used to the comic books. She didn't like them by any stretch of the imagination, but she could deal with them well enough. The problem was that, while the slim tome she now held, something called Cat's Paw, was plastered with the now-familiar four-colour images of her and the rest of Alpha Flight all suited up and ready for action, it was no comic book. It was something else entirely.
"Recently, Sasquatch has become prone to violent fits of temper. This occurs if Sasquatch fails a Psyche FEAT Roll at the start of any fight (Karma may be added). If Langkowski had less than 35 Health points at the time of his change into Sasquatch, he must make a successful red FEAT roll to keep control. When he enters a Bestial Rage, Sasquatch shifts right one to Incredible ability, and attacks are resolved on the Hack & Slash table. He may choose to do less damage than the maximum, or to have a lesser effect."
Nope, reading it out loud really wasn't making the matter any clearer in her head, and in fact accomplished nothing but make her seem like some kid who got held back a grade in elementary school english.
The strangest part, though? A quick skim through the rest of the book, consisting mostly of flat descriptions of events interspersed with bits of prose, revealed that this wasn't just some strange marketing tie-in. It was filled with things that she distinctly remembered happening, albeit with fewer alternate outcomes. Also, Wanda definitely didn't recall making too many 'red FEAT rolls' in her fights against Sabretooth and the Constrictor, but somehow that seemed unimportant.
Not only was her life documented in a bunch of comic books, it was apparently a role-playing game, too. Fantastic.
[[The book in question is a module for the Dungeons & Dragons-based Marvel Super Heroes Role-Playing Game from the mid-80s, for the curious.]]
