Things never seemed to come one at a time.
Crazed madman killing people. Naturally that couldn't be the end. That couldn't be the price of Sam. No. It had to take away one of the few pople who'd actually built a life on the island. It had to take one of the only people left that he cared about.

When she stood to pin up her hair, she saw that she was not alone.
"And how long have you been there watching, hmm?" she asked of the man, frowning as she smoothed the fabric covering her torso. It was a silky blouse, needless frippery, but better than a Chantry robe.

He blinked at the woman's question, and turned his attenion from the water. "...What?" Another blink, a moment later. "Vala?"

Well, why not use it to her advantage this time? With the Devon creature she had not known, but now she did, and perhaps some usefulness would come of this likeness. Or, at the very least, some amusement.
"...Yes," she said slowly. "Why? Who did you think I was?"

"...No one. What're you doing out here?" He'd never figured Vala for a waterfall person.

He bit his lip, and shook his head. "Nah. Just...listenin' to the waterfall. You sure everything's alright?"

"Yes, I am sure," she said, keeping her patience remarkably well, considering the circumstances. "Why do you poke at me so? What inner workings of Val- of mine could I possibly reveal?"
Reply
"We could start with the one where you tell me who you really are, and why you're pretending to be Vala?"

"Perceptive all of a sudden, aren't we?" she sneered. "It took you long enough. You must not know this Vala well to have mistaken me for her. A man I met mere days ago realized I was not she straight away. I," she announced, reaching behind the rock to pick up her staff and pack and leaning on the former, "am Morrigan."

He wasn't in any particular mood to be generous, so he wouldn't waste his time pointing out that he knew Vala quite well, and the island was very good at confusing bodies. The name, though, did give him pause.
Seriously? Morrigan?
Okay, so maybe he'd give her a little. "This place is good at doing strange things to familiar faces. I try not to rule anything out." He pointed at the woman, frowning. "You're the one who pretended to be Vala, when I gave you the chance to identify yourself."
