Every new production brings new challenges. This is something that is true whether those productions are happening on Tabula Rasa or in New Burbage or on Broadway. Every production is different, and no production is ever entirely what you expect it to be.

All things considered, this production is actually less fraught than most of his others have ( Read more... )

When everything is over, Daisy simply perches where she can on the corner of the stage and crosses her legs smoothly. Not the lead, she supposes, but then, there's more spice in variety and it's hardly as if she's being ignored. She toys with the fabric of her skirt and watches the crowd and the other players and feels separated, but comfortable. It's how it's always been and it makes her feel wrapped and warm and good.

"Lesbian love triangle," Kate says, hopping up along side her. "What did you think?

"I think that you were admirably sexual," Daisy praises with a broad grin. "I doubt Theseus would have been so noble if he'd been presented by women as attractive as the four of you," she says, indicating the actresses with her fingers flicking around. "And how's the post-play rush?"

"Excellent, as always. Finally got away from the ingenue role," she says, grinning out at the bustling crowd. "And yourself?"

"Well, I certainly don't feel like abandoning all hope!" she perkily notes. "Do you think little Sam liked it? Or will the next one be the one you hope he remembers as Mama's First Play." Because Kate had been radiant, sure, but a lesbian love affair isn't exactly the most child-friendly of plays.

"I think Sam has absolutely no idea what's going on," she says, pretty sure he just likes all the people. "But he's used to seeing Geoffrey running around like mad, so maybe none of this phases him."

"That will be an interesting childhood for the poor boy, now won't it," Daisy muses as she keeps her eyes on a middle-point in the distance. "The mad crazy theatrical uncle with the hair that really just needs one good hot oil treatment...I'm afraid he's probably destined for the theatre, Kate!" Daisy announces melodramatically.

Patrick finished wiping off the last of the stage make-up, and slipped into a pair of jeans and one of his button-down shirts, before going to join the others. He spotted Daisy first, and went to join her on her little corner of the stage.

Dropping down easily, he smirked over at her. "How is, good wife?"

Daisy smiles easily and leans up to smudge away a trace of something on his jaw with her thumb, studying him very carefully and giving him a nod of approval. "Is well, dear husband," she replies very easily. "You took to the stage like a duck to water," she appraises. "Prior experience?"

"College experience -- but really - I've been acting in one form or another since I was a wee lad in short pants." Patrick gave her a tired, but pleased smile. "And you? You're brilliant."

"Well, I would be, now wouldn't I?" she points out with a slight smirk. "I have had so many years of practice in being someone I'm not." She rubs her thumb against her costume, not sure she's really going to need it anytime soon. "Well, I'm sure you have fans a-plenty after that performance. Your pick of the crop," she says with a nostalgic sigh, remembering when she was that girl on the arm, that pick.

Patrick acknowledged this with an invisible tip of his invisible hat, and leaned back on his elbows, giving her a considering look. He kicked one thought, looking out to the gathered people, telling the other actors how much they loved their performances.

"Oh joy." He said with a wry little laugh. "More emotional entanglements I can't avoid because I'm stuck on an island with four hundred people, most of which don't understand what it means to be emotionally reticent. Joy, pure joy."

"Tell me how you really feel next," Daisy perks up and smirks at him. "And I do take offense to the comment, you know. Some of us ill-equipped non-emotionally reticent people can hear you," she says, but it's all fluff and light and teasing. "If you're not going to take a pick, then at least come sit with me," she coaxes and pats beside her. "Let me bask in someone's afterglow."

"If I told you how I really felt, we'd both need more therapy." Patrick said with a wry smirk on his lips, before he slipped next to her, pulling up one knee to rest on the edge of the stage. "I will gladly come and sit with you, and yes please, feel free to soak in my wonderfulness."

"I don't think that's very hard," she drolly notes and pats his thigh the once as she leans back against the support of the stage, smoothing out her dress. "Well? Did acting," and she says it with all the due importance that she can inflate it with, "give you a nice little refreshing break from reality?"

"Heh. It did. It took my mind off of ... things." He looked pensive, blue eyes narrowing over to the crowd of people, and his fingers flexed on the smooth wood of the stage. "I have to admit - the next time we have another play, I'll be one of the first people in line to audition."
