Happy birthday, dear Alcuin!

While Scotty still really misses the Christmas decorations, he thinks Bohemia doesn’t look half bad full of birthday decorations, either. Clearly their little neighborhood was just meant to look festive, and considering the residents, that makes an awful lot of sense. Prior and Maureen’s decorating skills are, as usual, impressive, and Scotty’s slaved away over a hot stove to bring Alcuin’s party the very best in party treats that he could possibly whip up. He tried to make all the food very light and delicate, thinking that Alcuin might find it comforting as well as delicious, a little reminder of home, maybe. Hopefully. That’s the plan.

If it doesn’t work out, he’ll blame Martha Stewart.

Scotty fights off butterflies, not for the first time, because he wants this party to go amazingly. It’s what Alcuin deserves, after all, and... maybe he feels a little guilty about New Year’s and everything going wonky there at the end. Planning the decorations with Prior had maybe been a little too awkward but Scotty’s trying really, really hard to ignore the awkward. He doesn’t even know what’s going on with that, and maybe he should keep it that way.

The surprise couldn’t have gone better. Alcuin walked right into the middle of a gaggle of friends waiting to give him a heart attack or a birthday cake. Thankfully all medical emergencies were avoided, so everyone could focus on having a good time and wishing the birthday boy a good day.

So far, so good.
