Johnny Storm was well versed in the various traditions that came with various parties, and having someone to lay one on at the stroke of midnight was in his top three, beat only by Mardi Gras beads and mistletoe.
Tradition was a glorious thing.
He didn't need to keep an eye on the clock or figure out who the lucky lady would be -- those things tended to work themselves out for Johnny -- but he knew just by the way the crowd gradually started pairing off and the subtle change in mood that the hour was close. There was going to be a hell of a lot of kissing going on soon, and as the clock on the wall overlooking the tables of food and booze began counting down to midnight, he was determined to be one of them.
