Bobby was nominated for the Island Council, and he wasn't sure whether he ought to thank Sam and Dean or strangle them. It wasn't somethin' he'd ever thought he'd be in the running for, though after thinkin' about it - and decidin' to wait on the initial impulse to decline the nomination - he'd decided it wasn't that bad. He didn't think his ( Read more... )

"Oh, Jezebel's never a nuisance," Serena cooed, kneeling down to pet the cat. "She's such a cutie, aren't you, honey? It's okay, Bobby." As much as she was managing to do okay from day to day, she still felt like she could use any distraction she could find; it was being able to think about anything and everything but Beat's being gone that was holding her together. A kitten -- cat now, really -- fit the bill.

Jezebel glanced back at Bobby as if to say see? before rubbing up against Serena's leg, purring away. "Keep pettin' her like that, you may never get rid of her," Bobby replied, chucklin' a little.

"Aw, I'd never steal her away," Serena replied, scooping Jezebel carefully into her arms and straightening up again. "Someone's gotta keep you company. But I can't help it if she likes me." She ducked her head toward the cat with a tiny smile, biting her lip. Maybe she'd see about getting a pet.

"Hell, how could anyone help but like ya? Including those of the feline persuasion," Bobby said with a small grin as Jezebel started purring. "'sides, she'd get bored hangin' around me all the time."

"I always wanted a dog," Serena said, "but a cat would be nice. My mom just never let us have pets, you know? 'cause she said we wouldn't take care of them. She was probably right." It was a lot easier to admit to someone who wasn't her mom, though.

From what little Bobby'd heard on the subject, it did seem like with kids who had pets the parents were the ones actually ended up doin' the majority of lookin' after the animals. That was kids, though. "I betcha'd do just fine now that you're all grown up," he said, his grin widening just slightly. "And you never know when there'll be more kittens." He just hoped it wouldn't be his cat havin' them.

"Well, if you hear about any, let me know?" Serena asked, brightening a little at the suggestion of her being grown up. A lot of the time, she thought she had, but lately, she'd just felt young and lost, more aware of being without her mother than she'd been in a long time. "I bet Blair wouldn't mind a cat. Especially if it's as sweet as Jezebel here."
