Remember, Remember the Fifth of November

Attendance at Guy Fawkes was required, or so Edmund had told Charlie. Edmund still retained a childlike fascination with fire, and a certainly juvenile glee at the prospect of things exploding. That there was food and drink involved only sealed the deal.

He didn't try to bake potatoes again this year, not after how disastrously things had turned out previously. But he had done his part to help out by collecting firewood, and felt well within his rights to enjoy a holiday he knew, as opposed to Halloween.

"Hey, Edmund!" I called, happy to see another familiar face. "Great party, eh?"

"Excellent," he agreed, giving Percy a hearty grin. "Even better if I don't try to cook again. I made a bit of a mess last year."

"It's a bonfire," I said, in mild disbelief. "It's not real barbecue unless you have some of it on you." I'd read that at a restaurant somewhere during my travels across America. "How bad could it have been?"

Ed frowned slightly, as he'd never heard that rule, but figured it must be some American thing. "Not barbecue. I made potatoes explode," he explained, grinning. "Baked potatoes are part of it all, but I'm better at eating them I suppose."

I laughed. "_I've_ done that. They never warn you about poking holes in them before you bake them. Possibly because they want you to learn it for yourself."

"I didn't even think to ask," Edmund admitted. The whole affair had seemed pretty straightforward at the time. "Just nearly ended up killing my good brother, I'm sure."

My eyebrows shot up. "How many baked potatoes did you _use_?"

"It's hard to believe how quickly a year's gone by since last Bonfire Night." So much had changed in a year, although a year was a long time, so you might expect a lot of change, Harry supposed. "How did Halloween treat you?"

"Brilliant, other than waking up to a zombie in my hut," Edmund replied, giving the doctor a particularly sarcastic smile before it faded into something more sincere, but gentler. "But the party was nice. Were you there?"

Harry smiled back. "They were a bit friendly, weren't they?" To put it mildly. "I wasn't. Fancy dress parties aren't really my thing."
