Some things, no matter what, were simply tedious. They had to be done, though. Jack had agreed to teach a jewelry making class and to do that, he needed supplies. He needed supplies anyway, but this was a good enough reason to get him to work. He'd found a couple scarves in the clothes box and had taken them into the rec room. A silk one and a linen one, both things that would serve his needs. The box had also seemed to know just what he was up to and had offered up a pair of cheap drug store glasses. He'd found that during the few days his personality had been all upside down and backwards that the glasses he'd worn had actually helped...though he hated to admit it.
He sat quietly at the large table with a pair of tweezers and a needle, gently picking threads free and then twisting them together to make workable cord. It was a hell of a lot easier than trying to make hemp thread from start to finish and Jack was perfectly comfortable with cannibalizing whatever he needed. He'd already taken the linen scarf halfway apart and had threads laid aside in a careful pile and had started in on the silk threads. Silk was much slower going. Pick, pick, pull, pick, pull. He'd almost gotten a rhythm down when he heard someone coming closer and pulled when he should have picked. The edge of the fabric puckered and tightened and Jack sighed softly. This wasn't something he could rush, even if he wanted to. He looked up and smiled, then reached up to take his glasses off since he only needed them for the close work.
Maybe he could do with a break. He wasn't even sure how long he'd been at this.
