Habits, bad or otherwise, were not things that Charlotte Charles was in the habit of judging. Having grown up in a household where her main guiding figures were decidedly against certain good things like natural light and fresh air and for bad things like cholesterol laden foods and alcohol her perspective was remarkably skewed. Even here.
Dressed brightly she gave the woman a wave. "Hello! How de do!"
Margot felt as if she was being greeted by a Sesame Street character. Nevertheless, her mother had tried to raise her not to be rude, so she offered the brightly-colored woman a nod while she shifted her cigarette to the other corner of her mouth in order to speak.
Charlotte Charles had never seen Sesame Street. If she had, such a comparison would probably not have caused her any sort of offense.
"Aren't you worried about heatstroke?" Perhaps this woman had some sort of internal temperature regulation problem that saved her from things such as fevers.
Feeling as if she had fallen into one of those traps in which she had said something she shouldn't, Chuck immediately let it fall by the wayside. She even gave it a little nudge to make certain it was dead.

In fact there was a surprisingly large number of smokers for such a condensed population. Chuck was rather impressed. "If you're into fine liquors then you might have to give them up."
Margot shook her head. Smoking was her vice. She'd never branched out into alcohol, beyond the odd glass of wine with dinner or pretending to get drunk at parties so a nice - or maybe not-so-nice, it didn't matter to her - young man would take her home.

"Did this journal say anything about smoking?"

"I don't worry about smoking. Or drinking."

"It looks like I might have to quit, now," she mused, glancing around her. She doubted she'd be able to get her particular brand here.

"I've never had to grow my own tobacco before."

Not that Chuck knew from personal experience. She only knew from observation and various discussions on the matter.

"So what do you do here?" she asked. "Besides welcome lost lambs." An apt descriptor...for anyone but Margot.
