Violet Baudelaire, it seemed, had finally grown tired of learning. No, not about inventions or her family or the many, many books the bookshelf had given her about Nikola Tesla (although she did wonder how much she could actually learn without being able to read German, as the books were largely things she already knew). No, Violet Baudelaire had grown tired of learning of herself, largely because she wasn't able to get anywhere. Of course she had the Island records, and many, many people who said they didn't know her well, but that- and then they would continue.

It seemed that everyone who had known her 'well' was gone. There was one person who, when he'd been not painted and drunk and the rest had seemed to look at her as if he'd seen a ghost, but she'd seen hide nor hair of him since the painted-drunken incident and she half wondered if her mind had patched together bits of wine and memory to make whatever it could find. There were a lot of the same names repeated again and again - Claire and Dennys and Klaus and Samara - but not one of those people remained.

That was why Violet currently found herself in a tree, her legs wrapped around a heavy branch. She squinted down at the plans at were spread on the ground - the sheet covered in charcoal was less then ideal, but it was at least big enough that she could make some semblance of notes. A carry-all was looped over a nearby branch, the carefully shaped pieces of wood stacked with a bundle of nails. Today was just the prelimary supports, but it was a start. She leaned, her sneaker braced against the tree, nails in her mouth as she peered at the trunk. Her hammer was balanced on her knee as she reached back to tie up her hair, and she squinted. Right there - between those two branches. She'd have to drop it as the tree grew, but it wouldn't be too difficult.

She reached over to snag the piece of wood she wanted, and somehow the hammer just slid out of her hand. "Oh, s-" She grabbed the nails out of her mouth with one hand, the other grabbing the limb so she could lean to look down - and to her horror, somebody was walking below. For all that they seemed unscathed, she couldn't help but call down. "Are you okay?"

Given that they'd almost been hit by a hammer from fifteen feet up, chances were good that the answer was 'no'.

ST/LT great, you know the drill. :D Your pup was NOT hit by the hammer, but it can be as close as you want. She'll climb down next tag!
