If Lewis Nixon isn't careful, he's going to end up an upstanding member of society. Here he is with the sun setting over the west side of the island, sweaty and dirt-grimed and completely blue-collar, finishing up the frame for one of the many doors they'll be installing in the new barracks across from the Officer's Club. A Club which, he might add, he has every right to be lounging in right this moment but isn't.
He couldn't say whether it was Shari that put a fire under their collective asses or if it was just time to get something moving, but it seems like Lew's idea to expand and plan ahead made the leap into reality before he quite knew what happened. It isn't as if he doesn't have faith in Easy's collective ability to get shit done, but looking at the spindly framework of the barracks in the golden afternoon sunlight, he's amazed at what they've done already.
Gene's been doing the directing on the project, but in his opinion it's hardly necessary. They're a smart bunch of fellas, and it's not that complicated a thing once the framework's laid out. It's been good, he thinks, working together again. Sorta like finally seeing all that Easy Company potential tapped in a truly positive way. Building rather than tearing down. It does him a world of good.
Nixon's finished a door frame and Gene steps over, smooths a hand over one side in approval. "Gonna have a lot'a doors to do," he notes with a wry smirk.
"I'd rather put in the work now than listen to the bitching later when everybody's complaining about the lack of privacy," Lew replies with a snort, and Gene has to agree. They might like each other like brothers, but he can't expect many of them want to listen to the others getting it on if they can help it.
[OOC: Tag Nix, tag Gene or tag both- Just let me know in an OOC note at the bottom of your first tag. You can find them anywhere on the building site. If you've got a pup that's helping with the construction, you can assume they're there, too. Open to new threads through Friday, everyone welcome!]
