Not only were all his clothes dirty, but half of them were in disrepair, to the point where he was going to wash them and rip them up for rags (Susan was particularly pleased at this; she claimed she was tempted to use some of his older shirts whether he liked it or not). Honour was not a fan of the Compound, so for once Edmund was completely alone when he found his brother. He grinned, pleased to see Peter elbow deep in that horrible box, and got himself a seat atop one of the unused washers.

"I heard it was laundry day," he remarked. "I thought I'd come around and enjoy the show."

"Oh, sod it." He pulled out another pink and purple sparkly shirt and threw it at his brother over his shoulder. "At least I do laundry."

Edmund laughed in that pleased way of younger siblings when the elder was tried, and caught the shirt. "I do laundry as well!" Though, to be honest, Edmund's version of laundry was more survival of the fittest. It all went in, and what didn't make it was replaced. "I just have less clothes than you. What do you need more for anyway?"

"Susan said she'd make rags out of half of them," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head at the clothes box. He furrowed his brow at it intently, and he started digging again, thinking he caught sight of something blue.

"That's still more than enough." In Edmund's mind, these days, three or four changes of clothes were all one needed. "And I'm sure she'd hold off if it meant you had to walk round half-naked. No one wants to see that."
