In all the times I had taken myself to the trampoline to practice my tumbling, I had never once had someone stop to ask me for a lesson in the art. That it was one of Bill's brothers who ended up being the first to ask did not so much surprise as amuse me; I knew of the twins likely in far greater depth than they knew of me, and I knew from Bill's stories how adventurous they were, how willing to try anything once if it seemed likely to provide entertainment for a time.
He was Fred, I learned, not George who was missing an ear (he was the one who had died, though neither of us mentioned that) and when I invited him up to the trampoline he kicked off his shoes and clambered up with a wide grin that was so like his brother's, it made me laugh.
"I have never attempted to teach anyone this before," I warned him, "and given how I know you are used to flying I cannot promise you will find it at all easy."
"'Salright," he replied, "wouldn't be the first time I've fallen on my face in front of a pretty girl before, sure it won't be the last either."
For his part, Fred was equally interested in the prospect of learning acrobatics as in learning more of Phedre herself. He knew she and Bill were close, but not much else, and he didn't want to seem a cad by not making an effort to get to know her when he had the chance. She was as pleasant as people said, which made her looks far less intimidating-- not that Fred was often one to be stunned by beauty, but he was only human, and if she hadn't been as friendly as she was he might have stood a chance to look like an idiot.
Though, he amended mentally as she took him through a few simple tricks, it was hardly as if he wouldn't have ample opportunity to look like an idiot in front of her before this was over.
