Either way, she needed it to hatch before she went to work off the oh, HUNDRED FRICKING HOURS she had bid on the other legendary creature in her life, one Lee Adama. "Kiddo, you have no idea," she told the egg, scooping up a handful of sand and watching it sift back through her fingers. "How messed up I am."
Maybe if she didn't think of it as messed up, but as dedication to a noble cause.

"You're way too little to be talking back," she said, and continued to will it to hatch anyway.
