"Just so you know," says Geoffrey, looking down from from where he's been staring for some time at the wiring for the lights, as though he can do something with it, "if you lose a leg, you're playing a tree stump in the next play."

"If I lose a leg like this, I'd definitely deserve it," Jack agrees, hopping over to the edge of the stage before he lets himself collapse into a sitting position. "Shit, that hurts. I was kind of hoping you wouldn't see it."

"I see all, I know all," says Geoffrey. "Or at least I do when I'm sitting up on a balcony. Do you want me to come down and take a look at it?"

"You can come down, but I think I'm okay," Jack answers, tipping his head back long enough to grin at Geoffrey. His knee hurts, but it's really not that bad. "It's gonna bruise and it'll look worse than it is."

"Well, that's a relief, because I really didn't want to make you take your pants off," says Geoffrey, though he starts coming down the stairs anyway. It's not as though he was getting anything done.

"Duck and Kate and... well, the rest of the island might wonder about that," Jack agrees with a laugh, watching as Geoffrey starts to come down. "What were you doing up there?"

"Oh, this and that," says Geoffrey vaguely. "There are always things to be done around here. Is there a new production I should know about that you're choreographing for? Maybe one of those movies?"

"No, I was just practicing," Jack admits, poking his tender knee gently. "Mostly so that I didn't do something stupid like what I just did in front of you. You weren't supposed to see that."

"I see all, I know all," says Geoffrey. "I am god of the stage. Or at least I was, once. You gonna live?"

"Yeah, I'll live. It's mostly just my dignity that's hurt," Jack answers, grinning. "Actually, my knee hurts pretty bad, too, but I will live."
