Unbeknownst to most of the island's population, the siblings Baudelaire had been working on a project. This project had taken nearly three months to complete, but standing behind the compound and peering up at the finally finished project, Klaus thought it had been well worth the wait.
This project was, you see, a treehouse, and a rather spectacular treehouse at that, for the Baudelaires never did much of anything halfway. Nestled in the branches of a large cypress, the house was comprised of five rooms, was two stories, had a pulley-operated elevator and running water. It was entirely possible that it was more accomodating than the compound in all regards save those regarding inclement weather.
Yes, amazing as it might seem, Klaus was pleased. He was even smiling.
