She had it down to a routine. Shower, change, coffee, shift change(mad cow came with her this morning and sat next to her laptop), straighten drawers, make sure supplies were back where they were supposed to be, take inventory, open up the laptop and save the world for three turns in the space of five minutes (which was difficult and sometimes left her shaking with the effort -- but it felt good), make lunch, eat it quickly, head back to the infirmary.

It was set and she liked routine. It helped define and helped her stay in place, grounded and centered like lok'nel did. The occasional patient had her smiling, though. It was a tangible, real reminder that she was needed. Some days she needed that more than anything.

Just to know that, as a professional, she wasn't obsolete.

At the moment, she paused and closed her eyes, her hand flat against the desk as she reminded herself that everything was fine. It wasn't fine, but it was fine right now and that was how it was going to stay, even if she had to force it.
