It'd been four (Five? Hell, he'd lost track of time.) days since the Stargate had been discovered, and to say that John was wound tight was an understatement. Not even Pegasus, as strange as it seemed, was this fucked up. They had a Stargate with no DHD, but it obviously worked somehow, since Dylan and the others had gone through. (And he missed Dylan for a fleeting second before he put an end to that thought process, because down that road lay madness, or however the saying went.)
It was a monumentally stupid decision to make, going through a Stargate without knowing where it led, but John had made his fair share of stupid decisions and knew he would have done the same. Anything to get off the damn island, to get those that had gone through back. (It was strange, how he felt some sort of bastardized responsibility for those that were missing.)
Adding to the stress, lack of sleep, and having to take care of McKay (John had fought tooth and nail to get Rodney to take even an hour's sleep), and John figured he didn't look all that pleasant as he made his way through the compound for food and a change of clothes.
He was starting to believe McKay and Carter might just not be able to fix the gate, and for some reason, doubting McKay's abilities felt like losing the last bit of hope he had of going home.
[Summary: John is stressed and wound tight days after the Stargate is discovered and still not working. He runs into Leoben when he heads back to the compound, who wants to know where Dylan is. John finally snaps and punches Leoben, who isn't above shoving back. They have a small scuffle, and John explains where Dylan went. They apologize manly, and John heads into the compound.]
