It had been two weeks since Bill had moved back to the main island and into a hut with his brother. It was only the presence of Charlie on the island, after so long without him, that had got Bill to agree to move in the first place. He wasn't regretting his choice, though, even if it was a bit odd getting used to sleeping in an actual bed in an actual hut after living for three years mostly in a tree.
Lately, when he wasn't doing one of the many things that regularly occupied his time - teaching, serving Friday dinner, practising knife throwing or bass, and working at the club - he'd been trying to keep an eye on Tonks and Teddy as much as he could. Losing Remus had been hard enough on him; he could only imagine how it had been for her, and Bill wanted to be there for her as much as he was able. With how busy things had been for him lately, he could only be somewhat thankful he wasn't adding impending fatherhood to the mix.
Dinner, as usual, included both a seafood and non-seafood dish, to accommodate different tastes. Tonight it was seared tuna steaks and shepherd's pie with boar meat, along with pumpkin soup, a green salad loaded with veggies and a homemade dressing that turned out rather well, and muffins (both strawberry and mango). Bill had got into the habit of making Rice Krispies treats about once a month, and those were available tonight for dessert.
After grabbing his customary cup of coffee, Bill took a seat at a nearby table with his bass, turned the amp down real low, and started playing
a song he'd recently learnt while he waited for people to come and eat.
[Friday dinner post - tag Bill, tag each other! He's very quietly playing the bass line for Higher Ground (the RHCP version). ST/LT welcome, new tags accepted through Monday.]
