Somehow, few things had ever felt this disastrous.

Yuffie had seen a lot of trouble, and caused a lot of trouble, and been on the receiving end of a lot of trouble, but since the day she'd ended up with skinned knees in front of Dao Cho statue, she'd vowed not to let it really affect her. She'd cried more than once since then, when Aeris had died, a time or two when she was just so frustrated-- but it hadn't felt this empty.

She followed certain people around, certain parts of the day, and so she'd known quick when the island took Cloud back. It left the swords, though, and she selfishly swiped the Buster Sword, dragging it out onto the beach. Stupid Cloud, thinking no one would figure out his memorial at home, the sword jammed in sand.

It took some work to get it in there good, and when she was done, Yuffie found herself sitting next to it, numb. Her eyes were rimmed with pink and her nose was runny, and more than anything else, she wanted to go home.
