It's months more than Buck ever expected to be on the Island and he doesn't know what to make of it. Paris had been good to him, but even there he'd had duties and people to report to. Now, it's all chaos and casual goings and even if there's school and baseball, Buck's still without the direction he wants.

Even back home, he could have found a woman, could have found a job.

He grips the baseball tighter in his hand, twirling the bat with his right hand, fingers gracefully manipulating the bat and tossing the ball up in the air, waiting for the right moment of the apex of the ball before swinging for the fences, watching it soar in the air. Buck grins as he watches it, letting out a soft exhalation as he drops into a catcher's crouch over home base and settles, just watching the ball on the grass and tries to figure out just how long he's got to serve in this place.

Besides that, he's got the issue of Easy to think about. With Grant in the Clinic and the Homestead expanding by the day (and having issues, by the looks of it), he doesn't know how much longer he's going to have purpose with them, even.

He settles casually, staying in the crouch as his muscles stretch, debating what comes next.

Well, beyond getting up and getting the ball, that was.
