Patience was a virtue; one that Booth generally lacked. Coffee took time, unfortunately, and so in his past couple years on the island, he’d learned ways to kill time. He was waiting for his coffee to finish brewing, so he headed over to the rec room to find something decent to read; he knew the noises the machine made, and he had a nose for ( Read more... )

"Well now." Saffron arched an eyebrow with appreciative interest as she looked down at the magazine, one hand light on his shoulders. "You sure do clean up nice, Booth."

[just Booth, pls!]

Booth raised his eyebrows, glancing over his shoulder, mouth slightly open. "Why, Helen, you sound surprised." He grinned, wide and easy.

Saffron's gaze shifted from the glossy photos to the man himself. "Not at all," she said, smiling, and tapped the page. "Though I am thinking it wouldn't be a hardship to see you dressed like this every now and again."

"Yeah, yeah." He grinned up at her, slightly flushed. "Suits aren't my thing." He paused, glancing down at the photos. "Maybe the clothes box will be generous for the next bash we have." He cocked his head to the side, smiling.

"I'd have to beg to differ, seeing these, but I'll take your word for it," Saffron said, throwing him a teasing wink. "Mind if I join you?"

"Not at all." He gestured to the seat across from him, smiling crookedly. "I never said I didn't look good in suits. Just that they're not my favorite attire."

"I suppose there's a distinction there," Saffron agreed with a smile, and went to put water on for tea before she joined Booth at his table. "So tell me, what have you been up to lately, besides finding very attractive pictures of yourself in magazines?"

"Not much. Up at the crack of dawn half the week with the Task Force. Still patrolling with the IPD." He shrugged. "Training." He smiled over at her, cocking his head a bit. "I'm a simple man, Helen, simple life." He took a slow sip of his coffee.

"Definitely nothing wrong with that," Saffron commented. "Sometimes the most simple things in life are the things that make us the most happy." Sex, after all, was pretty simple when you got down to it.

"Absolutely." He nodded, smiling wide. "Your turn. What's new in the salacious and exciting life of Helen?" His eyes twinkled, head cocked to the side just a bit.

Saffron laughed, amused at his description of her life. It really wasn't all that far off in terms of accuracy. "The biggest thing on my mind right now is the opening of The Catscratch Club," she said. "It's just a bit under two weeks away."

"Wow." He nodded, eyes wide. "Sounds exciting. And salacious." He grinned, eyes twinkling. "So how's that shaking out; dancers, music, the works?" He didn't know much about the club, actually. Just that plans were in the works, and that it involved women dancing.

"The works," she echoed in confirmation. "It'll be a strip club upstairs and a jazz club downstairs. Do you know Warrick Brown? He's my co-owner, running the jazz club. We've got some really great staff, too." Her smile broadened a little. "And some excellent dancers."

He nodded, approvingly. "That sounds like quite something." He paused, the obvious question waiting for him. "You planning on dancing?"
