The snow hadn’t been nearly as bad as Davos had feared and he could only suppose that the gods were too merciful to bring on a true winter without first ushering it in with the warning of autumn. Still, that wasn’t something he took for granted and, when he had woken earlier that morn to find that the snow had gone after less than a full moon, he had made an offering of thanks to the Father before he had done anything else.
The second thing he had done was get started on building a gallery for the Lady Vanessa. It had never sat right with him that the weather had forced him to delay his work such a long time in the first place and he was eager to get it completed as quickly as possible now he had the opportunity. Fortunately, he had taken the time the winter had given him to plan out the work and ask about for help and, while he was still far from a great carpenter like his goodfather was, his time with the building crew meant that he was confident in being able to build something that suited.
When completed, after all, the gallery was not going to much more than a large room filed with windows and situated not far from Vanessa’s hut and, in truth, there was no real reason not to entrust it’s building to the heads of the crew. But, to Davos, that felt like passing on the responsibility to his betters and he did not want to do that. It was him she had asked and it would be up to him to get it for her or else he did not deserve the trust she had given him. It would feel like a betrayal to ask another man to arrange it in his steed. He was not, however, so foolish as to think he could do all the work himself and so had asked for assistance from any whom he felt would be willing to give it. The only exceptions were those such as Edmund Pevensie who had been kings in their own lands and whom Davos felt were too high born to lower themselves to such work.
By mid afternoon he and his crew had made a good enough start on the foundations that Davos felt sure that it would be complete ‘ere a few days had passed.
(OOC: Gathering post for builders and onlookers alike. Davos is working on
Nessa's workshop and gallery. Tal will put up a post about it in Slated shortly. It's being constructed near her and Julian's hut, slightly south of the large waterfall. If your pup knows either Davos or Nessa, even if only slightly, than feel free to handwave that he asked them to help. Alternatively if your pup is just passing then they're still welcome to join in.)
