Max was usually up pretty early in the morning. Even though she did need to sleep these days, being awake when the sun came up was kind of a hard habit to break.

She didn't know what it was about today that made her decide to go by Alec's hut and try to drag his lazy ass out of bed, but she had. She needed a running partner, and it wasn't like he was doing anything productive anyway. Unless productive involved sitting around, occasionally scamming on some bleached blonde in a bikini. Sometimes, it was really enough to make Max want to throw up.

Once she'd pulled on a pair of sneakers, running pants, and a jacket, she crossed the Hamlet to Alec's hut, where she entered, uninvited.

"Up and at 'em soldier!" Max shouted, Only to find that Alec wasn't there. While she was a little confused, it wasn't really a biggie. Odds were, he'd probably talked his way into somebody's bed or something.

Though, that didn't really explain why all of his stuff was gone. The room was...well, pretty damn empty.

She'd seen it happen before. Stick around long enough, and everyone disappeared. Even people from home. It'd been so long since someone from home showed up, even someone that she didn't really know, that maybe she'd taken it for granted-- thought that he'd stick around for ever. But the island was too much of a bitch for that, huh?

Somewhere in the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think that she should probably check the jungle. Head up to the compound, ask around and be sure before she just accepted that he was gone. Never leave a soldier behind-- while it hadn't exactly been the way of life at Manticore, it was a philosophy Max had ended up adopting herself.

It really sucked when you were the one left behind.

She sat just outside Alec's hut in the cold, not knowing what the hell to do now.
