Kiss me at midnight, dance until the morning light.

If there was one thing Devon knew about a good New Year's Eve party, it was when to keep an eye on the clock and to get everyone's attention. He'd stuck close to Ellie five minutes to, and when the last minute began to tick away and nobody had done anything about it, he decided to take on the mantle ( Read more... )

Sarah Jane had her own little mission and that happened to be finding someone (a particular someone if she had any luck) in order to kiss at midnight. She was rather short, so it was a mite hard to scan the crowd, but she was pushing her way through as she heard the countdown, an 'excuse me!' here and there to be heard.

Casey was having a pretty good time with his buddy Jim Beam, but when the announcement came that it was about to be midnight, he remembered that there was someplace he had intended to be.

He heard her before he saw her, which was typical.

"Happy New Year," he said.

"There you are," she accused slightly, glad to have found him with a couple of seconds to spare. It gave her the time to bounce on the balls of her feet and propel herself up the distance between their bodies, sealing her lips to his just in time for the 3, 2, 1...

"Here I am," Casey said agreeably, and then there was counting and then kissing that he hadn't had a chance to get around to starting himself. Not that he objected or anything, but he usually liked to have a little more buildup.

Sarah was sure to make quick work of getting her hands on him as quickly as she could. One went straight to his chest and the other secured tightly upon his neck as she slowly deepened the kiss, sliding against his body and hoping he would support her.

Casey slipped one arm around her and brushed his other hand over her hair. As a way of ringing in the new year, this didn't leave much to be desired.

Sarah really didn't want to ease away, but she eventually had to breathe and beyond that, she wanted to properly wish him a happy new year, with words beside using her tongue to...well, push down his throat. "John," she murmured, blinking rapidly, and half-lidded. "Happy New Year."

Benny was making her way through the crowd, not entirely sure who she was looking for. Or even if she was looking for anyone in particular. The night was fantastic, probably the best she'd had since arriving on the island, and she was in a perfectly splendid mood. So, when she nearly ran smack into Sarah, she couldn't help but be pleased.

"Sarah Jane Smith!" Benny smiled her biggest smile, and without even really thinking about it, moved in close, placed her hand on the back of Sarah's head and pulled her in for a full-on snog.

Sarah Jane let out a quiet muffle of surprised when she was suddenly being kissed and it felt like she hadn't once stopped! There was movement and then there had been kissing. Quite good kissing, in fact, she would say that for Benny. She eased back, breathlessly, giving the other woman a surprised and pleased look. "Happy New Year," she offered with a surprised look upon her face.

Benny was still smiling broadly, with a look of joy on her face, as Sarah gently pulled away. It was one hell of a fine party, and that had been a damn fine snog, if she did say so herself. "Happy New Year to you too, Sarah Jane."

Sarah arched her brow, unable to help the slightly mischievous look upon her face. "So what was that," she said teasingly, "about getting to know Harry better and yet, here you are with me and not trying to talk him up?"

Benny tried her best to give the other woman a cross look but was in far too good of a mood to pull it off, and the attempt just ended up making her laugh. "That was all your idea, if I remember correctly. And to be honest, I haven't seen Harry around anywhere tonight." Not that she'd been looking, but Sarah didn't need to know that part. "Besides, I doubt he'd look as fetching in a frock. Or kiss that well," she added with a smirk.

"He might be able to pull off a frock!" she said in his defense, laughing all the while because she found the whole notion a bit amusing, especially to picture Harry in the dress she was wearing at that moment. "But...thank you, I suppose? For...well, the kiss." Even if it had made her blush terribly.

If she'd given herself a chance to think before she'd acted, Bernice probably would have assumed that Sarah's reaction to an unexpected snog would involve a bit of sputtering and even more blushing. It was a very pleasant surprise to find out she was wrong. "You're quite welcome, Ms. Smith. I assure you it was my pleasure," she said with a saucy smile. "But as for Harry, I'm not one to judge a bloke for his choice in formal wear, but I honestly don't think he's got the legs for a mini."

"I don't know that I do either," Sarah found herself compelled to point out. "Or at least, not in this weather." Because as much as they were inside, every time the bloody door opened, it was like winter coming back to remind them of its existence.
